EV charging at Extra motorway services
Extra has EV charging at a growing number of its sites through EG Charging, EG Group's own charging network, as well as partnerships with third-party charge point operators. EG Charging rapid units (CCS2) are the primary provision at Extra sites with dedicated EV infrastructure. Not every Extra site currently has rapid charging: some locations have slower AC charge points, and others have no EV provision at all. The Jornee app shows which Extra sites have EV charging and at what rated speed, so you can filter by minimum power level before selecting your stop. No booking is needed or available through Jornee.
| Network | Connector | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| EG Charging | CCS2 | At sites with EG Charging infrastructure |
| Third-party rapid | CCS2 / CHAdeMO | At selected Extra sites |
| AC fast | Type 2 | At some locations |

Several Extra sites have dedicated HGV lorry parks. Cobham Services on the M25 is one of the larger Extra locations and carries HGV parking. Rugby on the M6 also serves a significant volume of freight traffic and has lorry parking provision. Bay count and overnight charges vary by site. How Jornee ranks Extra on your route
Jornee lists Extra services ordered by the time each stop adds to your active route, not by raw distance from your departure point. A site directly on a slip road costs less time than one requiring a short diversion, even if the second is nearer by distance. Filter by EV charging speed, food brand or HGV parking to narrow the list. The Jornee app shows Extra alongside Moto, Welcome Break and Roadchef at the same junction where relevant, so you can compare what each operator offers at the same point on your route.
