Which operator runs each M40 service area?
The M40 has four service areas, run by three operators. Beaconsfield (J2) is Extra MSA, Oxford (J8A) and Warwick (J12 to 13) are Welcome Break, and Cherwell Valley (J10) is Moto. No Roadchef site sits on the M40. Each operator sets its own food line-up, so the brands change from junction to junction.
Three operators run the M40's four service areas, and the food line-up follows the operator. Extra MSA runs Beaconsfield at Junction 2, with Starbucks, McDonald's and a Shell forecourt. Welcome Break runs Oxford at Junction 8A and both Warwick sites between Junctions 12 and 13, leaning on Starbucks, KFC, Waitrose and Pret. Moto runs Cherwell Valley at Junction 10, with Costa, KFC, M&S Food and an Esso forecourt. The table below lines them up by junction, operator and charging network.
| Service area | Junction | Operator | Rapid EV network |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beaconsfield | J2 | Extra MSA | Ionity + GridServe, to 350 kW |
| Oxford | J8A | Welcome Break | Tesla Supercharger, to 150 kW |
| Cherwell Valley | J10 | Moto | GridServe, to 175 kW |

HGV parking and showers on the M40
All four M40 service areas take HGVs and have free driver showers, open 24 hours. Beaconsfield has the most space, with 91 HGV bays and 20 coach bays. Cherwell Valley charges about £36 for an overnight HGV stay, or £39 with a food voucher. The M40 has no dedicated truckstop, so the service areas are the overnight option.
The M40 is a passenger-led corridor with no standalone truckstop, so HGV drivers rely on the four service areas, and all four take trucks. Beaconsfield (J2) is the largest, with 91 HGV bays, 20 coach bays and free showers. Oxford (J8A) and both Warwick sites (J12 to 13) have paid HGV parking up to 24 hours with no pre-booking, plus free showers. Cherwell Valley (J10) runs paid overnight HGV parking at about £36, or £39 with a food voucher, and has showers on site. Use the HGV filter to see only truck-friendly stops on your route.
