Every stop on the M6
The M6 runs roughly 232 miles from Catthorpe (J19, where it leaves the M1) up to Carlisle and J45, which makes it Britain's longest motorway and a long old slog if you don't plan your breaks. Heading north you've got Corley (Welcome Break, between J3 and J3A), Hilton Park (Moto, J10A–J11), the split Stafford pair (Roadchef and Asda southbound, Moto and BP northbound, both between J14 and J15), Keele (Welcome Break, J15–J16), Sandbach (Roadchef, J16–J17) and Knutsford (Moto, J18–J19). Past the M62 it's Charnock Richard (Welcome Break, J27–J28), Lancaster (Moto, J32–J33), Burton-in-Kendal (Moto, northbound J35–J36), Killington Lake (Roadchef, southbound J36–J37), then the family-run Tebay (Westmorland, J38–J39) and Southwaite (Moto, J41–J42). For charging, Tebay has 12 Westmorland ultra-rapid 150 kW units northbound plus 12 Tesla posts up to 250 kW on the southbound side, Killington Lake runs a GRIDSERVE hub with units up to roughly 290 kW, and Welcome Break sites like Charnock Richard now carry Applegreen Electric chargers rated to 180 kW.

For motorcyclists on the M6
If you're on two wheels, the M6's chain services are functional rather than fun, so most riders treat them as fuel-and-go and aim for somewhere with character to actually stop. Tebay (Westmorland, between J38 and J39) is the standout: a proper farm shop and kitchen with outdoor seating where you can keep an eye on the bikes, and the Esso forecourt there runs 24 hours for a quick fuel stop before the Shap climb. Lower down, riders coming off the M6 around Charnock Richard (J27–J28) or Lancaster (J32–J33) tend to peel onto the back roads of Lancashire and the Lakes, where the biker-friendly cafes sit, rather than camp in the car park. For an EV bike, the GRIDSERVE units at Lancaster and the 150 kW Westmorland posts at Tebay northbound are the sensible top-ups before the long quiet stretch up to Carlisle.

Lorry parking on the M6
For HGV overnight parking the M6 has a small set of genuinely good options, most clustered in the north where the long-haul Scotland runs need a break. J38 Truckstop at Junction 38 (run by Westmorland, the Tebay people) gives free parking for up to three hours, with overnight from £20 including a food voucher, and Tebay itself charges about £28 a night including a £10 voucher. Carnforth Truckhaven sits half a mile off Junction 35, open 24/7, with overnight stays from around £23 including a meal voucher. Further south, Lymm at Junction 20 (Moto, where the M6 meets the M56) is the other signed truckstop, with two hours free and overnight rates from there. If you're charging an electric tractor unit, Tebay's 150 kW Westmorland points northbound are the most practical heavy-vehicle-friendly stop on the northern half of the route.
