How to find EV chargers without leaving the motorway

To find EV chargers without leaving the motorway, search the whole route at once instead of just the area around your current location, then filter by connector type and power output before you commit to an exit. Jornee is a route-stop search app built around exactly that. It runs the search along your planned Route Corridor, ranks every charger by the Detour in minutes it adds against staying on the motorway, and shows live station-level availability, so you know before you arrive instead of after.

Filter by connector, power and side of the motorway

A route full of chargers is not much use if half of them take the wrong connector or sit on the far carriageway. Jornee narrows the list before you leave: CCS, CHAdeMO or Type 2 connector, a 50 kW, 150 kW or 350 kW power tier, and same side of the motorway, so you are not crossing lanes for a Stop that costs minutes you did not plan for. Brand and open-now filters stack on top. Twenty chargers on a route becomes a shortlist of three that actually fit your car and your schedule.

Check charger status before you commit to the exit

Live station-level availability tells you whether a charging station is reporting as open before you commit to the exit for it, and that matters more on a Route Corridor than a single nearby search ever could. Pair it with the Detour ranking and you can weigh a 4-minute detour to a station with three other options nearby against a 12-minute detour to one with none. Jornee reports status at the station level, not per individual stall, so treat it as a strong signal to plan around, not a live queue count.

Get directions once you have picked a charger

Jornee finds and ranks the Stop. It does not turn-by-turn navigate you there. Once you have picked a charger, it hands off to whichever app you already use, Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze. The free tier covers 3 route searches a day and 25 in total, enough to plan a trip or two before deciding whether you want more, and Jornee runs on both iOS and Android.

Frequently asked questions

Can Jornee find EV chargers along my whole route, not just nearby?
Yes. Jornee searches the full Route Corridor of your planned trip rather than a radius around your current position, and ranks every charger by the Detour in minutes it adds against staying on the motorway.
Does Jornee show whether a charger is CCS, CHAdeMO or Type 2?
Yes. Connector type is a filter you set before you search, alongside a 50, 150 or 350 kW power tier, so the results only include chargers your car can actually use.
Does Jornee show real-time charger availability?
It shows live station-level availability, meaning whether the station is reporting as open, not a count of free individual stalls. Pair that with the Detour ranking to judge whether a station is worth the exit.
Does side of the motorway actually matter for finding a charger?
It does when the alternative is crossing carriageways for minutes you had not planned to spend. The same-side-of-motorway filter keeps results to chargers you can reach without leaving your direction of travel.
Does Jornee navigate to the charger once I have picked one?
No. Jornee ranks and finds the Stop, then hands off to Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze for directions.
Is finding EV chargers on Jornee free?
The free tier covers 3 route searches a day and 25 in total, on both iOS and Android. Paid tiers unlock more searches for drivers who plan routes often.
