Google Maps and Jornee solve different problems. Google Maps is a navigation app: it gives you turn-by-turn directions, live traffic, and a search box that finds places near a point on the map. That search works well when you are already stopped and want to know what is close by. It does not rank stops by how much detour each one adds to your journey, and it does not filter the full list of stops along a 300-mile corridor by vehicle type or facility. Jornee does exactly that. It takes your route, identifies every qualifying stop along the corridor, calculates the real detour cost in minutes for each one, and returns a ranked list. For truck drivers filtering by height and weight limits, or EV drivers planning charge stops on the M6 between Birmingham and Glasgow, that is a fundamentally different search result.

When Google Maps is the right tool
Google Maps is the right choice when navigation is the primary job. Its turn-by-turn routing, live traffic rerouting, and lane guidance are best-in-class and work reliably worldwide. If you want to search for a petrol station or restaurant near where you are right now, Google Maps is fast and accurate. Its coverage spans every country, every road type, and most business categories. For trips where you need directions and want to find something nearby on the way, Google Maps is the natural choice. It is also the sensible default outside the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France, the five countries Jornee currently covers.

When Jornee is the right tool
Jornee answers the planning question Google Maps does not: which stops to take before you leave, ranked by how much time each one costs. If you are driving the A1(M) from London to Edinburgh and want to know every truck-friendly service area with HGV height clearance, ranked by how many minutes each exit adds, Jornee gives you that list before you set off.
