Rapid EV chargers on the M4: up to 350 kW
The M4's fastest recorded charging is at Magor, where Roadchef has an Ionity hub rated to 350 kW near Newport. Heston has Tesla Superchargers to 250 kW by Heathrow, and Sarn Park has Tesla to 130 kW in South Wales. Those are the three sites we hold a charging network for. For the rest of the route we have the service area but not the charger, so we leave it blank rather than guess.
The M4's standout charger is Magor (J23A, Roadchef), with an Ionity hub rated to 350 kW just west of the Severn, one of the fastest on any UK motorway. Heston (Moto) has Tesla Superchargers to 250 kW by Heathrow, handy on the way out of London or before a flight, and Sarn Park (J36, Welcome Break) has Tesla to 130 kW for the run into West Wales. Those three are the only M4 sites we hold a charging network for. The others may well have chargers we have not recorded, and we would rather leave the column empty than name an operator we cannot back. Prices vary by network and tariff, so check the ad-hoc rate before you pull in.

HGV parking on the M4
The M4 is a busy freight route to the ports of South Wales, and nine of its eleven service areas have HGV parking in our data. Cardiff West (J33) and Swansea West (J47) do not. Six run 24 hours: Reading, Membury, Magor (J23A), Cardiff Gate (J30), Sarn Park (J36) and Pont Abraham (J49). There is no standalone truckstop, so the service areas are the overnight option. Bay counts are not in our data.
The M4 carries heavy freight to the docks and ports of South Wales, so most of its service areas have HGV parking, though there is no dedicated truckstop. Nine of the eleven stops we hold have it; Cardiff West (J33) and Swansea West (J47) do not. Six are open 24 hours: Reading, Membury, Magor (J23A), Cardiff Gate (J30), Sarn Park (J36) and Pont Abraham (J49), useful for a legal tacho break rather than hunting a lay-by. Bay counts and rates are not in our data, so check with the operator before you commit to an overnight stop.
