Plain language: here is what Jornee collects, why, and who touches it. This does not replace our full terms, but nothing here is hidden in them either.

What we collect

You can use Jornee anonymously — that is the default, and most people never need to do anything else. We only collect more when a feature requires it:

  • Your email — only if you sign in. Accounts are optional. If you create one with email, Apple, or Google, we store your email address. If you never sign in, we never have it.
  • Location, foreground only. When you tap “use current location” or set a route, we read your location to compute the route and find stops along it. We never collect location in the background, only while you are actively using that feature.
  • Crash logs and performance data. When the app crashes or runs slow, we collect diagnostics through Sentry so we can find the bug and fix it.
  • An anonymous device ID. A device fingerprint that keeps the app working: it rate-limits requests and blocks abuse. It is not linked to your identity.

How we use it

Each piece of data has one job. Your email runs your account: it syncs your favorites and route history across devices and restores them if you reinstall. Your location is sent to our routing and stop providers (TomTom and others) to calculate the route and the stops along it; we use it for that request and do not keep it to profile you. Crash data fixes bugs. The device ID keeps the service stable. That is the whole list.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data, and we do not hand it to anyone to reuse for their own purposes. TomTom and Sentry process data on Jornee’s behalf. They are processors acting under our instructions, not independent parties free to do their own thing with it. Routing providers receive the location they need to compute your route; Sentry receives the diagnostics it needs to surface a crash. That is the extent of it.

Your rights and deletion

If you signed in, you can delete your account from inside the app. That removes your account data: your email and the favorites and route history tied to it. Since anonymous use stores nothing about who you are, there is nothing to delete for it in the first place. Questions about your data go to the address at the bottom of this page.

Security

Everything Jornee sends travels encrypted in transit over HTTPS/TLS. That covers account data, location requests, and diagnostics alike.

Ads

Jornee shows no ads today. A future free tier may carry them; if that changes, we will update this page to describe how they work. This policy describes how the app behaves right now.

Website analytics

The marketing website at jorn.ee uses Plausible, cookie-less analytics that collects no personal data and sets no cookies. We see aggregate page traffic, not individual visitors.
